The Snake. 15" x 30". Acrylic on canvas. This is the wave made famous by Mick Fanning in his Rip Curl "Search" video in 2017 "Ain't No Wave Pool". The wave was first discovered by a Dutch surfer in 2003. Location is somewhere in Western Africa. The wave is reportedly under threat from potential coastal development, including a proposed harbor project and a jetty that local fishermen want to build to combat erosion. The wave was also featured in The Surfer's Journal in 2023. Go find it and see for yourself!
